Canopy Verde is a small Brooklyn based company that designs thoughtfully produced vegan and eco-friendly bags. Their collection includes wristlets, clutches, shoulder & tote bags, satchels and weekend bags. Along with prioritizing ethical and earth friendly business practices, they are also actively involved in working with charities including the YWCA’s Purses for Passion in Minnesota, Habilitat in Hawaii and a number of local school auctions in Brooklyn.
Canopy Verde founder Linda Wong reached out to us to provide samples for review and the Brighton Phone Wristlets we received instantly became favorites of mine. Born in Canada, raised in Taiwan, and now a full time New Yorker, founder Linda Wong started the brand in 2008, after working in fashion and seeing firsthand how much waste was generated season after season. The first collection was launched a week after the birth of her first child – a real labor of love! Every bag in the Canopy Verde collection reflects her design aesthetic and earth friendly philosophy. The collection is made with certified organic cotton, eco friendly dyes, and PVC free vegan leather.
The inspiration behind Canopy Verde comes from many sources – growing up in a frugal Chinese household where nothing was wasted, a love of mid-century Danish design, and the practical needs of a multi-tasking mom. Living and working in Brooklyn has also been a constant source of inspiration.
“The creative talent here is really amazing, from designers to photographers. We also love using Brooklyn as a backdrop for all our photo shoots,” says Linda.

Canopy Verde kindly sent us two Brighton Phone Wristlets for review just before we departed for Cape Town earlier this year. We received two colors, Orange and Gunmetal, and I found myself loving them equally.

The Orange is a playful and summery pop of color that I often use during the day when we visit markets and eat out, not to mention it’s always easy for me to find. This bag fit in perfectly during our stay in the vibrant Cape Town.
The Gunmetal is the more refined and sophisticated color that I turn to for a night out and will likely pair with my winter wardrobe later in the year.
Both of them are made with a soft and supple vegan leather complete with two zip pockets and a sturdy detachable wristlet strap. These bags are large enough to hold a phone (or two), credit cards, cash and a few cosmetics but compact enough that they’re never bulky, obtrusive or heavy. The chic Brighton Phone Wristlets became my everyday bag in Cape Town and I continue to rely on them for their versatility, practicality, durability and effortless style.
